Software Engineer

Would you like to develop software for high-tech machines used worldwide in the medical and pharmaceutical industries? And does the prospect of being involved in the entire process, from design to commissioning, appeal to you? If so, we at GTE Engineering have an exciting challenge for you.   As a Software Engineer, you’ll develop control software for bespoke machine-building projects. Working alongside colleagues from software, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, assembly and service, you’ll build machines for clients in the medical and pharmaceutical industries. You’ll be involved from design right through to commissioning and will play a key role in the success of every project.

Your tasks and responsibilities

• Developing and programming PLC, HMI and motion control software for machines and production lines.

• Commissioning machines in our workshop and, where necessary, on-site at customers’ premises.

• Testing, validating and optimising software functionalities.

• Analysing and resolving technical faults and complex issues.

• Contributing ideas on new automation concepts, standardisation and software architecture.

• Drafting and maintaining software documentation and manuals.

• Supporting the service and after-sales teams with software-related enquiries.

Function requirements

What are you bringing with you?

You are analytical, solution-oriented and enjoy solving technical challenges. You work independently, but also recognise the importance of collaboration within a project team.

In addition, you have:

• A higher technical education (HBO) level of working and thinking, for example in Industrial Automation, Mechatronics or Software Engineering.

• Experience with PLC programming, preferably Siemens TIA Portal.

• Knowledge of HMI, motion control and control technologies.

• Experience with PACKML is a strong advantage.

• Experience in mechanical engineering or industrial automation.

• Good communication skills in both Dutch and English.

• Willingness to travel internationally on an occasional basis for commissioning or support.

Your work environment

At GTE Engineering, you’ll be part of a dedicated team of specialists with short lines of communication and a no-nonsense approach. You’ll work alongside colleagues from the software, mechanical and electrical engineering, assembly and service departments. Thanks to the short lines of communication and informal organisational structure, you’ll have plenty of scope for taking the initiative, contributing your technical expertise and taking on responsibility. You’ll be involved from design right through to handover, and you’ll see your software in action in machines operating at customers’ sites around the world.
